The 1996 Formula 1 world champion will appear alongside F1 commentator Tom Clarkson for ‘An Evening with Damon Hill – In Conversation with Tom Clarkson’ across five dates in September and October.

The event will see Hill reflect on his career, including his path into F1, his time as Ayrton Senna’s teammate at Williams and his championship battles with Michael Schumacher.

The tour will also feature discussion of the current F1 season, including the drivers, cars, regulations and future direction of the sport, while fans will be able to put questions to Hill and Clarkson during a live audience Q&A.

It follows a successful run in the UK and adds to a growing list of F1 figures bringing stage shows to Australia, following Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard’s tour earlier this year and a planned tour by former Red Bull boss Christian Horner in August.

“I am looking forward to visiting Australia and New Zealand in late September / early October to share some stories from my career – the highs and the lows, and the in-betweens,” Hill said.

“With Tom Clarkson on hosting duties, we will be sharing some insight into the current F1 season, as well as taking a trip a trip into the glory days of past seasons.

“I hope to see you then!”

Hill started 115 grands prix across a career that included stints with Brabham, Williams, Arrows and Jordan.

He claimed 22 wins, 20 pole positions, 19 fastest laps and 42 podiums, finishing runner-up in the 1994 and 1995 world championships before winning the title with Williams in 1996.

His championship victory also saw him become the first son of an F1 world champion to win the title himself, following the success of his father Graham Hill.

Hill’s career also carries a strong Australian connection.

He won the final world championship Australian Grand Prix held in Adelaide in 1995, before taking victory at the first championship race at Albert Park in 1996.

Adelaide was also the scene of one of the most talked about moments of his career, when his collision with Schumacher in the 1994 title decider ended his hopes of winning the championship by one point.

The tour will begin in Perth at His Majesty’s Theatre on September 28 before heading to Brisbane’s QPAC on October 1, Auckland’s Bruce Mason Centre on October 2, Sydney’s City Recital Hall on October 4 and Melbourne Recital Centre on October 5.

Pre-sale tickets for the tour go on sale today, with general sale beginning on Friday, June 19 at 11am via fane.com.au.
